I paint landscapes on site or plein air at various parks and open spaces through the Contra Costra and Sacramento Delta areas. After having lived around the country, I feel very attracted to the color and the abstract quality of the California landscape, particularly the foothills, the wetlands, the farmlands, and the bright intensity of colors and hues not found elsewhere.
I often paint series of studies, such as tree roots along an embankment, to compare and contrast the form, weather, and light and shadow effects. |
